About the Rewind Technique

Catherine is a qualified BACP (Accred) Rewind Trauma therapist after successfully completing training with Dr. David Muss the founder of the IARTT Rewind Technique.

Rewind Therapy is a safe. fast and effective treatment for symptoms caused by a traumatic event/events, PTSD and any other symptoms caused by psychological trauma.

The rewind technique helps to reduce or even eliminate Trauma and PTSD symptoms within a short space of time usually between one -three sessions. It can address symptoms such as flashbacks, repeated nightmares, intrusive images or thoughts.

The Rewind Technique can help individuals recover from one-time incidents or more complex trauma. Sometimes we may need to break it down if incidents are unrelated which will require a separate course of treatment.

Car accidents                                                   Being Trapped

Research Shows

The Rewind Technique has a 90% success rate and is highly effective in treating PTSD, trauma, phobias, and anxiety. It employs relaxation and guided imagery as well as the use of repetition. Extensive research has shown that many clients experience substantial reductions in their symptoms, with some even achieving complete relief. A recent UK study by The Human Givens Institute revealed that 43% rated is at extremely successful, 53% of rated as successful and 7% rated it as acceptable and no one in the study rated it as poor or as a failure. What sets this treatment apart from the rest is that it avoids dragging you back through painful experiences; instead, it provides a secure space focused on relaxation, mental rewinding, and repetition, guiding you toward closure and healing. This is different to a counselling session where you talk about your trauma "Closure without disclosure" By Dr David Muss.

Rewind Therapy works by eliminating the recall of the traumatic event, by detaching from the event. Rewind therapy allows the individual to have control over the memory once the memory has been filed away properly in the brain. However, voluntary recall is still available when needed.

After the Rewind therapy the event is not forgotten, however you should notice a change such as not feeling bothered by it anymore or it feels significantly lighter.

What Catherine’s Rewind sessions look like: The rewind session start by grounding and relaxation creating a safe space.

The first session will take 60 minutes – Catherine will go through an assessment which involves a IES measure and establish the nature of your trauma, psychoeducation of how the brain processes trauma and how the rewind works. Catherine will then explain exactly how you do it and then it will be done. At the end their will, be guidance and advice. Catherine will then see you again in two weeks’ time to re-do the IES scores and discuss progress. The rewind may be used again and used until symptoms have improved.

The fee is 65 per session.

The first session is an assessment- The assessment takes approximately 50 minutes to complete. I will explain the method, what is involved and then ask you a range of questions about your trauma and then complete a IES measure. This will determine if Rewind would be effective. Depending on acute one off incident which would be one course of treatment, whereas complex trauma may take a few courses of treatment to deal with each one individually.

Sessions after this are usually a lot shorter.

Rewind is short and effective usually taking 1-3 sessions.

If further counselling is required then these will be charged at my regular rate-please see my list of fees.

(I am currently interested in anyone who would be willing to be part of my case study for the IARTT. No recognisable information will be disclosed as part of the case study).
